About Course

In this term, students explore how a wide range of texts represent individual and collective human experiences. The module encourages deep reflection on what it means to be human — how people respond to challenges, connect with others, and make sense of the world. Through guided analysis and writing tasks, students build the interpretive and essay-writing skills required for the HSC Common Module.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this term, students will:

  • Analyse how writers convey universal and personal experiences through language and form

  • Write with clarity and sophistication in analytical, creative, and discursive responses

  • Build the confidence to interpret and respond to unseen HSC-style questions

  • Meet HSC English Advanced Module outcomes for:

    • EIC – Engaging Personally with Texts

    • LGV – Understanding and Using Language
